|Comments:||HRR's 19th (or is it 20th?) appearance at the RNR brought the usual lack of sleep, driving at 8mph for hours on end at silly o'clock, but also some great team performances and a fun - if tiring - weekend away.
Laurie received a medal for his 10th RNR.
A touching gesture during the prize-giving by the race organisers was the mention of Simon Nickau, our timekeeper for many years, who is greatly missed by all Norfolk regulars.
John Woods first appearance was slightly marred by a bout of sickness (must have been the excitement of cycling the A143 at 2am) but glad to say he's OK now.
Slightly more worrying was Matt Walsh's admission & overnight stay in Kings Lynn A&E - he'll fill you in on that. Luckily, he made it out in one piece and cycled with Rachel on her leg to the finish line.
Huge thanks to Mary for organising again, and to Dave, John G, Laurie, George and everyone else who drove, cycled and got the runners where they needed to be.
See you in 2014............?
A successful weekend in Norfolk, with weather conditions varying from cold, wet and windy to very pleasant, saw us placed 33rd out of 54 teams overall and 13th out of 21 in Club class.
Very good individual performances on their stages included: Clare Howarth 1st senior lady, and Lisa Stockdale 2nd senior lady, Harriet Griffiths and Rachel Walsh 4th senior lady, Marie-Anne Fischer and Neville Baker 5th vet. Neville was also 4th age graded performance on his stage and Laurie Hurman 5th age graded on a demanding multi-terrain stage. Laurie brought home the silverware this year with a medal for 10 appearances at the RNR.
