|Comments:||The inaugural running of this revamped and rebranded race, following
the shambles last year when the old Sheffield half marathon was
cancelled on the day because the water hadn't turned up.
The new route is not your typical half-marathon course. The first 5
miles are entirely uphill, culminating in a timed 'King of the Hill'
segment between miles 4 and 5 to see who can run the fastest hill
mile. The final 3 miles are downhill, and the trick is to avoid your quads
turning to jelly.
An absolutely impossible race to pace properly - my mile splits varied
from 5:44 to 8:10. Well organised and well supported, and would
recommend it for next year to anyone not hunting a PB.
