The Leighton 10K will return to Long Marston Cricket Club for 2020
for a glorious undulating run around the Hertfordshire countryside.
Starting and finishing at the cricket club in Long Marston, the route
heads uphill reaching the village of Cheddington, before going
downhill and turning onto the Grand Union Canal at Cooks Wharf.
From there the route follows the canal through Marsworth, before
heading back on to the road and downhill through Gubblecote back
to the finish on the cricket green where glory and cake awaits.
At LFR we love a plot twist and this year the race will again pass
through the pub garden of The Queen's Head!
The race HQ at the cricket club provides parking, toilets, changing,
bag drop and refreshments (for a small donation) which includes
LFR’s famous cakes! Cakes are not the only goodies finishers will
receive - you also get a technical t-shirt.
Prizes will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed men and
women plus 1st place prizes for the following age categories: MV40,
MV50, MV60, MV70 and FV35, FV45, FV55 and FV65. There is also
a team prize available for the first team of 10 back to the finish.
All proceeds from the race and cake donations go to LFR's chosen
charity for the year (to be chosen in February 2019). In the past we
have supported Reclaim Life, Brain Tumour Research, Willen
Hospice and Jamie’s Rhythm of Life - all local charities.
