The "Calne" before the storm
Getting up early when the clocks go forward is not has hard
as it was for the previous running of this year's Clock
Change Challenge 10k back in March. When I got up it was
very cold, and looking pretty miserable, with the St Jude
storm on its way, so I togged up in my winter wear. Having
registered early, I sat in the car to keep warm before the
race, and by 10.30am the sun was out, the skies were blue,
and I felt somewhat overdressed for this quiet country 10k
race! It's a simple out & back course with a little hilly
loop about halfway, with plenty of Wiltshire club runners to
(try) to keep pace with. Very little traffic, and well
marshalled.
I was pleased to knock 4m45s off my previous time, but just
didn't have quite enough in me on the day to get the extra
minute or so I needed for a PB... |
