...The last mile is full of spectators - thousands of
them - and as you turn into Boylston Street you hear a
roar of people cheering you on, resonant of the Mall at
the London Marathon. You are forced to dig deep and give
everything you have, with the finish line is in sight.
It’s at this point you are reminded why the Boston
marathon is loved so much. It’s a combination of many
things - the journey to BQ, its status as the oldest
marathon, the uncertainty of the weather, the miles of
downhills through various towns, the brutal uphills, the
loud scream tunnel, and most of all, the sheer number of
Bostonians who turn up on the day, regardless of the
weather, to support the runners and make them feel
