Fraser's photo of the start of the Adderbury Half Marathon The Adderbury Half Marathon is a mix of off-road and tarmac. It was mainly a flat course with a few gentle inclines. En-route, we saw motorway traffic, slow moving canal boats, a hot air balloon and even a steam train! We met stiles, steps, kissing gates, and old wooden kissing gates that wouldn't move.

I met a herd of cows that also wouldn't budge: in a field they were standing across the path and a marshal thought he would take a wonderful photo of me struggling rather than him doing some shoo-ing.

It was hot (about 23 degrees) but thankfully there were four water stations and these were cheerfully manned.

It was a race with a friendly atmosphere: runners exchanged words as they passed and chatted whilst briefly standing at the water stations. Whilst crossing a stile, I glanced back and saw the runner behind me going the wrong way. I re-crossed the stile and ran back to the junction and shouted to her. I then had to do the stile for the third time. Grhh! I hate stiles. After finishing, I learnt that Neville and some other runners near him had gone wrong there too: a direction arrow or a marshal was needed.

As well as the Adderbury Half Marathon, there was also an off-road 10K, a walk covering the same route as the Half and runs for kids in three age groups.
