After my four spring marathons, this was the first of three ultramarathons
that I’m doing in aid of suicide prevention charity Papyrus. The course
stretches from Stroud to Broadway Tower along the Cotswold Way, taking
in some amazing views, woodland, plenty of fields and hilltops, and 7500ft
of elevation. My pace was very conservative, and any uphill was walked.
That strategy paid off, lots of tinned peaches and rice pudding kept me
going, and it was only the last 5 miles, when I pushed on to slip under 12
hours, which hurt a bit. I’ve got my feet up now but will be back again for
Race to the King in two weeks.
Thanks to everyone in the club who has donated so generously.
