Great HRR teamwork to finish 4th and 10th out of 41 teams
in the event. We had team changes up to 2 days in
advance so great work to get everyone to their start
points and home again.
Challenge and adventure along the 86 scenic miles, and a
really friendly atmosphere among the clubs taking part.
This year featured a very strong head/cross wind (never
behind...) which was a big challenge in the second half.
Also a heavy downpour during stage 5 made the long
downhill along Grims Ditch excitingly skiddy.
James Eve had his traditional stage win, and everyone
else ran well - there are no easy stages on the Ridgeway.
Anthony's rain-soaked, mud-splattered battle with
Aylesbury on Stage 5 stood out for me. If you've ever
run that stage with its countless stiles, gates and tree
roots you'll know that 1:05 is an amazing time in any
weather.
