I came 2nd overall and 1st MV40 in the 5k
out of 64 (over 400 did the 10k). Nice to
do the same event as my teenage boys!
The event was very friendly and we
received a nice medal and goody bag. Only
problem with the organisation was at the
start when most people's didn't know where
the start line was and were still making
their way there when the starting klaxon
went off.
A very pretty route starting with a tarmac
section, then with a challenging downhill
trail section where most runners were
hopping to and fro over a rocky dry stream
bed to avoid the uneven surface. Then a
grassy and muddy downhill section before
the route split for the 10k runners to go
left and the 5k route went right down a
country road (the 10k corse loops round to
join the same section later). A small
uphill bit then downhill on grass before
the final killer hill leading to a 500m
finish section.
There was a good turnout for the 10k by other local clubs including Abingdon and Didcot. I'd definitely be up for doing the 10k next year and some HRR company would be lovely. |
