A most select quartet (*) of HRR runners took part in this year's Silverstone 10k. Conditions were near perfect; even the wind seemed to calm down when the race started. This race is a definite PB hunter's paradise (if the conditions are right). It is also well organised with chip timing and this year there were split times for 5k (maybe next year they will operate the speed trap down the Hangar Straight!)
This race is also interesting (maybe inspiring) for any of you petrolheads out there as the course is run over the (soon to be old) course of the Grand Prix circuit. That all changes this year as a new pit lane and grandstand is now nearing completion - quite an impressive structure it is too.
It should be noted also that all four of us were back at Charlton the following evening in various marshalling/spectating capacities, but big respect to Diane who ran both races and looked in very good form for the second day running!
(*) Please note that these are only provisional results and strangely John Griffiths appears twice - although I only saw one of him that evening!
(JG adds: I am happy to claim the quicker of the two times, my original number wasn't there for me at the check in so I was issued with another. There's a sad person out there who wants to impersonate me !!) |
