Martin writes: Set off with hopes of attacking Chris Woodruff's tough M60 club record of 65:32 at the Police 10 mile championship held at Pleshey, Essex. However, heavy marathon training including a 20 mile run three days before left the legs feeling a little heavy pre-race. Despite being sent slightly off course at 5 miles and losing around ten seconds, I was on track until 6 miles ( clocking 6:30’s) but a three mile section running alone and mainly into a headwind slowed progress down. Pleased to close in 65:57 (chip) and a plus 2 minutes age group win. Will look to have another crack at Chris’s record later in the winter. |
