Comments: The Brathay Windermere marathon is one of the finest road marathons in the UK for scenery. It's also combined with day 10 of the "10 in 10" where 15 intrepid souls run the same course day in, day out for ten days in a row. 262 miles. I'm happy just turning up with the rest of the public on the last day for the lap of honour. It's a great course - undulating in parts, running from just outside Ambleside all the way around Lake Windermere passing Hawkshead, Esthwaite, Lakeside, Newby Bridge & Bowness. There are even bagpipers to serenade you up the biggest hill at Mile 7! I'd highly recommend a weekend in the Lakes to include this marathon. It's no wonder it features in the UK's Top Ten marathons.
