The HRR Cross Country (XC) Championships are held annually. In the 2023-24 season, points can be obtained when competing in the five races of the Oxfordshire XC League, the five races of the Chiltern XC League, the Southern XC Championships race and the National XC Championships race. You can see information about some of these races on this website at https://hrr.org.uk/events-list/  and further details are circulated by email to club members before each race.

The spreadsheet showing the points scored during this season can be seen here.

The scoring system is as follows:

  • Five points are obtained for each of the first 8 races you run in any of the 12 races.
  • Points are also obtained for your 6 best positions relative to other HRR runners in your age category (25 points for the first runner in your age category, 24 points for the second, and so on).
  • The age categories are SM, VM40, VM50, VM60, VM70+, SW, VW35, VW45, VW55,  and VW65+. Runners who are U20 will be classified as SM/SW The qualifying date for all age categories is September 1st 2024. This season for the first time the age categories for women in the OXL are the same as for men while in the Chiltern League they remain as before. The categories for the club championships have not been changed
  • Second-claim members are not eligible for the HRR XC Championships.

At the end of the season, prizes will be awarded in each age category to the first three runners that have finished in at least five races. There is a trophy for first place, a medal for 2nd and a medal for 3rd. Note: even if a runner has obtained more points than someone else in their age category, they will not be eligible for a prize unless they have finished in at least five races.
