A scorching hot day, for one of the flattest 10k races
you'll find around. Low key with under 150 entrants, so
plenty of room along the runways to get a good position for
a PB.
The airbase seems very dated now, quite overgrown and
derelict in places. Haunting almost - a silent echo of the
cold war.
Off on the dot of 10am for a zig-zag route round the base.
The wind was behind us mostly on the first half, but against
us for the last mile along the main runway, making it a
challenging race to the finish. The fire service were at the
end to hose us down and then offer free rides round the
