On paper this was a fast course, along the banks of the River Lune and the local canal. Beautiful weather heightened anticipation, but it didn't quite turn out that way. Flat? generally yes, apart from a long steep flight of steps at 3 miles, the course also twisted sharply several times. What seemed an even pace produced some odd mile splits which suggested they may not have been accurate (44 secs for the last 0.2 of a mile??). However it was very enjoyable and friendly and family rivalry was settled amicably for now at least! |
