Hills, hills and more hills!
This race starts and ends at the gardens at Buxton Opera House. The first 3 miles are up a long hill (think Headington Hill), followed by 4 miles of undulating downhill, through a rocky dale and over numerous cattle grids (all marshalled by the Peak District Mountain Rescue teams).
A couple more ups and downs through pretty villages before you come back into Buxton, then finally head into the Pavilion Gardens where the finish is. Great support from Buxton AC and other local clubs makes this a friendly event.
I managed to do well despite the hills, made up some ground on the downhill sections, Clare had a good run too, although being in Totley AC green was an obvious disadvantage to HRR yellow.
I would really recommend this race if you want something different - £10 inc. t-shirt, and with only 250 entrants this is a nice change to larger (overpriced) city half-marathons.
