Combe Gibbet challenge (10.5k).
This is a nice little village race that more HRRs should know about – so long as you like hills. It takes place out of Inkpen to the west of Newbury and goes up onto the Wessex Downs – and then down and back up again. About half is on little country roads and half on the kind of chalk tracks that you get on the Ridgeway. There are two water stations – actually the same one that you pass twice because the course is a figure eight. It's about 10.5k, not the 10k that the titla suggests. Only 140 entries, and very friendly atmosphere. |
