Sam O'Neill set a new SM club record at this race.

It was a frosty start on a narrow pavement with 600 runners , up the front was Sam O'Neil a man on a mission and watching the start from the side of the road was me (Kenny) . They counted down from ten and of they went at full speed , I walked to the back to join in and over the start line I went .
4 laps of 5 miles with an undulating course, either long ups or long downs nowhere flat . This made it hard to set any steady pace but it's the miles in the legs that this race is about .
Mike Pearce set a new club record in Bramley 4 weeks ago in 2.09 but Sam had this in his sights and there was no stopping him as he gave it his all . Averaging 6min miling with a time of 2.00.25 |
