Comments: A new course for this year for this enjoyable midsummer run through Swinley Forest near Bracknell. Imagine my intense elation therefore as I crossed the line and upon checking my watch realised that I had just wiped over 2 minutes off my PB for 5 miles. Over 2 minutes! It seemed that I was not alone but the euphoria soon evaporated when I realised that the course was short, well short. I did wonder why we were directed to take a right turn by a marshal who had the 3 mile marker behind him! Apart from this gaffe, this is a very well organised and supported race. I am also impressed by their ingenuity in coming up with momentoes. I have had the usual mug and water bottle - this year it was a Bracknell Forest Runners bar of soap. That and a Mars bar almost made up for the disappointment on the night - but it will remain a PB all the same - I am unlikely to run this distance ever again! The website contains the following statement, "Regrettably a marshal was incorrectly positioned which resulted in the course being short of 5 miles. Our apologies for this error, however all runners used the same course so generally speaking positions were unaffected.
