Enjoyable 10 miler along the River Thames from Chiswick to Twickenham bridge and then back on footpaths past Old Deer Park and Kew, resuming on the towpath for the final stretch back to Chiswick. Flat apart from the steps up to the bridge, and there was a mixture of different surfaces to run on. Weather was sunny with a cooling breeze, and the race was enthusiastically marshalled by West4 Harriers. A commemorative engraved Fuller's tankard was given to all finishers. Nice size field (460), although the towpath was at times crowded with bikes, dogs & other runners! Chip timing was used for the first time. |
