Surprisingly the afternoon's race (starting at 2.30pm)
didn't really feel like another 3½ laps of the same (when
I'd already done 7.25 laps starting at 9am), it actually
felt like an entirely different race. Maybe it was that the
starting point was way over on the far side of the course
from the usual start and finish points.
Anyway, I set off hoping to run the half in a good-ish time,
and not come in ages after everyone else who were either
only doing the half - or only doing part of the half in the
relay. I was the *only* entrant to have done the morning's
marathon! In the end I ran it in a reasonably respectable 2
hours 29 minutes - although was amused to think that that
was only a matter of seconds quicker than Chris Dettmar had
taken to run the London Marathon the weekend before! And the
best bit was that I didn't come last :) |
