Excellent organisation of this first-time event, and a mug and Easter egg for every finisher made it true Yorkshire value! Advertised a being run over 'a variety of surfaces', it did just that. Starting from the market town of Helmsley, the first 2.5 miles were on road, mostly uphill as we headed for the moors. The next 2.5 miles were on gently descending farms tracks, making for enjoyable running and fantastic views. The last section of leg-draining, field-side footpaths, began with a precariously steep, wet, grassy bank, before the last few hundred metres brought us back into town, to finish on the playing fields. A great morning out, only marred by Richard being beaten by a 13-year-old (!), and hopefully set to become an Easter regular. |
