The Llandudno 10 hosted the 2011 inter-county 10 mile championships, and Richard and I travelled to north Wales as part of the Oxfordshire squad. The race was reestablished this year after a six year break and was pretty well organised. The only gripe was a 20 minute wait on the start line that possibly cound have been avoided. The start and finish are on the promenade, right outside a conference centre, making for a great race HQ. The course winds back and forwards along the seafront and through the town centre, and is flat apart from two gradual rises. In good conditions it would be lightening fast. We, however, had strong, blustery wind to contend with, and a particularly nasty stretch from miles 7-8 battling into near gale-force gusts, with a bit of sand blasting for good measure! Thanks to Gail's mum and dad for braving the elements to cheer us on! |
