Very well organised, well supported, long established event. The course is slightly undulating, though nothing major, and goes through some beautiful countryside. We wrecked our chances of fast times by walking 90 miles in the five days before the race, so probably shouldn't have been as disappointed as we were to both miss out on prizes by one place! My heart sank soon after the 8-mile point, when I realised that my legs were very tired and that the last five miles were going to be into a head wind. I can only thank the Wimbourne runner who stuck with me for most of the last three miles, and coaxed me through to the end. Would definitely run it again, though next time with a taper. |
