Type: Road
Comments: Horrendously strong winds on Saturday made this almost a comical event at times - people zigzagging uncontrollably in the finishing straight, judges clustering to give warnings to anyone who was literally blown off thier feet or succumbed to the temptation to bend their knees to walk into the wind, dodging the twigs that came flying down from the trees in Leamington's Victoria Park. Oxford City's Pete Roberts nevertheless got a bronze medal for his age group in the veterans' race, and I improved greatly on my performance in the Southerns 3 weeks ago. The big highlight on the meeting was the performance of the UK Juniors in their match over 10K against the best of Europe, as detailed on the UKA website.
