On Easter Mondays the Sussex town of Steyning is given over to a classy duathlon at lunchtime - in which I'm told Hanno, Marie-Anne, Sophie and maybe somebody else competed - and a century-old traditional walking race in the afternoon, each run through the towns and villages of the Adur valley. Star of the walk this year was New Zealander Craig Barrett, Commonwealth Games 50K silver medallist in 2002, who incredibly completed the hilly 15.25 miles in a shade over 7-minute miling. Almost half an hour later I toddled in - reasonably pleased with my 9-minute miling. |
