Comments: Great race and perfect prep for autumn marathon (it has probably remained undiscovered due to the annual clash with the Headington 10k). The venue is the Dunsfold Aerodrome, near Cranleigh in Surrey. It is quite a drive from Oxford, but do-able in 90 minutes. The site is famous for being the Top Gear test track and the studio where they film the show is also there. The event was very well organised and marshalled and there was the option to do 10 miles instead (always a bit soul destroying as you begin the second lap). The first three miles (and miles 11-13) were around the aerodrome and then the route went out onto country roads and lanes and at that time on a Sunday morning was relatively traffic free. The course was fairly flat but there were a couple of short hills (seemed to be more downhill than uphill, but my mind was clearly playing games!) There were also water stations every 2.5 miles with free gels and sweets; jelly babies and fruit pastilles, so I was well fed throughout the race, which is possibly why I managed to sustain an even pace and wipe over 33 minutes off my previous best for 20 miles :-)) I can thoroughly recommend this race and note that there is also a spring version in early March.
