Three Peaks Race

Date: 29th Apr 2007
Distance: 24m
Full results: http://www.threepeaksrace.org.uk
Type: Multi-terrain
Comments: The Three Peaks are Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in Yorkshire involving about 4500' of climb. Most of the route is runnable, but the steepness of some sections is the equivalent of climbing a ladder! This year's warm and dry conditions led to a number of PBs, but also (if the Fell Runners Forum is anything to judge by) an epidemic of cramp, and 51 (10% of the starters) did not finish. The race is very well run, and next year this event will be host to the 2008 World Long Distance Mountain Running Challenge.
